2020 Honda City , A Quick Review!


The fifth generation Honda City Sedan is soon to be launched in India, while production has already begun at Honda’s Greater Noida plant. This here is a quick walkthrough on the highlights of this new Honda City.

Exterior:

       The new Honda City gets a more conventional body shape with near perfect proportions when compared to the previous generations. At the front, the new City features full LED Headlamps with DRLs & turn indicators. The wrap-around LED tail lamps are also new with Z shaped 3D combi lamps. The top trim levels will receive classy looking 16” Alloy wheels as well.

Interior:

       The new Honda City adopts a conventional symmetric dashboard layout with improved quality and dual tone colour theme. Leather is provided on the seats and door-pads for the premium feel. Space is expected to be generous while also providing ample number of features.

The top trim levels will receive an Electric sunroof, Powered driver seat, Auto headlamps, Auto wipers, Cruise control, Auto climate control, a 7” digital instrument cluster, ambient mood lighting and rear sun-shades. There's also an 8” touchscreen infotainment system with Android auto, Apple Car-play & Amazon Alexa compatibility. Connected car features & telematics control unit is available through the new Honda connect app.

Safety:

       The new Honda City will be providing Dual airbags, ISOFIX mounts with ABS and EBD as standard across all variants. The top variants will also receive Side & curtain airbags, Vehicle stability Assist, Hill start assist, Tyre pressure monitor, Left side lane-watch camera and smart key access system.

Powertrains:

       The new Honda City will retain the BS6 compliant 1.5L 4 cyl petrol and diesel engines producing 120PS and 100PS Power respectively. A 6 speed manual gearbox will be standard while only the petrol range will receive the option of a CVT Automatic.

Launch & price:

        This Fifth gen Honda City will go on sale in the coming weeks and compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai’s updated Verna and the new TSI versions of the Volkswagen Vento & the Skoda Rapid. Prices are expected to be around Rs30,000 higher than the previous gen Honda City. If launched with proper pricing, the new City Sedan could bring some much needed excitement in Honda India's portfolio.
