Renowned and legendary American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson have announced a new partnership with Hero Motocorp for the India market. Under the new partnership agreement, Hero MotoCorp will sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles and also will be manufacturing and selling parts and accessories. Hero Motocorp will also be retailing the official general merchandise, riding gear and apparel through a network of exclusive Harley-Davidson dealers besides Hero’s existing dealership network in India.
India's leading two wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp will also develop and sell a range of premium motorcycles under the Harley-Davidson brand name. These new range of bikes could be the entry-level Harley-Davidson bikes, targeted primarily at markets like India and other South East Asian countries. Currently, the made-in-India Harley-Davidson Street 750 is their most affordable and smallest product. However, the Harley-Davidson 338 is likely to be their most affordable product as a result of a new partnership with China’s Qianjiang Group. Harley-Davidson will probably be looking to enter the small displacement sports & cruiser motorcycle segment with the expertise and manufacturing abilities of Hero . The motorcycles are likely to be small displacement Harley-Davidson bikes, possibly between 250-500 cc.
All this is a part of Harley-Davidson’s business overhaul plan, dubbed ‘The Rewire’. The Harley Davidson brand will also be rejuvenated with the strong distribution network and customer service of Hero MotoCorp.
The new developments and plans are expected to commence in full swing by the end of this year. Stay tuned for further updates.
