Yamaha has revealed the new 2021 MT-09 Hyper Motorcycle. The MT-09 has always been an amazing looker and is one of the highly popular premium motorcycles in Yamaha’s range in its global portfolio. There have been significant changes made to the new updated version though.
The twin-pod menacing headlamps have been replaced by a new single-pod unit and has a sleeker stance that suits the stripped down look the MT-09 carries. The bike also features vertically shaped LED Daytime Running Lights on either side of the LED headlamp. The side profile of the 2021 Yamaha MT-09 has also been revised with the removal of some of the panels seen on the previous model, lending it a more meaner look.
The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is based on a new aluminium construction with the swingarm and sub-frame also developed using the same material. It has a kerb weight of just 189 kilograms. In terms of performance, it is powered by a new 890cc 3 cylinder engine producing a maximum power output of 115 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm through a six-speed transmission that comes with a new bi-directional quickshifter.
The new MT-09's suspension comprises of a fully adjustable KYB front forks and a rear monoshock with preload and rebound adjustable. Brakes include 298 mm dual front discs and 245 mm single rear disc with Nissin calipers.
The new MT-09 is available in three paint schemes namely Icon Blue, Storm Fluo, and Tech Black. Yamaha also offers a six-axis IMU tech with lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, cornering ABS and rear-wheel lift mitigation. Other features include an all-digital instrument cluster with 3.5-inch full colour display. The 2021 Yamaha MT-09 is expected to be available in India by the first half of 2021.
