Morris Garages India have unveiled their new flagship full size Gloster SUV in India. Bookings are now open for the feature loaded full size SUV, with the booking advance of Rs.1L. MG’s full-size SUV will be available with either a six- or seven-seat layout and will offer 4WD as an option. The MG Gloster is a rebadged version of China's Maxus D90 which is also sold as the LDV D90 in Australia.

Variants and features:

The Gloster will be available in four trim levels – Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The MG Gloster Savvy and Smart variants will be available with a

6-seat configuration only; with captain seats in the middle row, while the MG Gloster Super will feature a 7-seat layout. The MG Gloster Sharp can be optioned with either seating arrangement.

Powertrain:

The Gloster will be available with a two 2.0-litre diesel engine options. The first choice is a single turbocharger engine and develops 163hp and 375Nm, while the second is a twin turbo unit developing a  superior 218hp and 480Nm. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard on both engines. The twin turbo engine will be available with Borg Warner's shift-on-the fly four-wheel drive with selectable drive modes including Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, Auto, Eco and Sport modes. The single turbo diesel is two-wheel drive only.

The Gloster has been awarded 5 Star rating at the Australian NCAP crash tests and includes a long list of standard safety features:

The new MG Gloster is expected to be positioned above all the other full-size, 7-seat ladder-frame SUVs including the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4. Prices will be revealed on the festive month of October and the expected pricing is around Rs.45 to Rs.50L on road. Stay tuned on further details on this new tech savvy full size SUV.

Toyota India is preparing to launch the facelifted Toyota Fortuner by early next year. Bookings have commenced unofficially for the new facelifted SUV at select dealerships for an advance of ?50,000.

Exterior:

The majority of the upgrades will occur at the front end of the Fortuner. The new model will feature a new grille, LED headlights with LED DRLs, redesigned fog lights and a new silver skid plate. Other changes will include redesigned 18” alloy wheels and re-profiled LED taillights.

Interior:

The new Fortuner launched in

Thailand features an all-black interior with a new instrument cluster and a larger touchscreen infotainment system. The Fortuner Legender edition also offers a powered tailgate with the swipe-to-open function, wireless charging and a 360-degree parking camera. Similar to the facelifted Innova Crysta, the new Fortuner will also include Android Auto and Apple carplay finally. 

Powertrains:

The first powertrain for the facelifted Fortuner will be the 2.7L petrol engine which produces 166 PS and 245 Nm through either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The Thai-spec Fortuner gets a new 2.8L turbo-diesel engine which produces 204 PS and 500 Nm. This engine is expected to be introduced in the Indian model as well. While all the models will be 2WD as standard, only the diesel will get a 4WD option.

Price:

The current BS6 Toyota Fortuner is available from ?28.66 lakh to ?36.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted model is expected to cost around ?50,000 more.

Toyota India launched its new subcompact SUV, the Urban Cruiser. This is essentially the rebadged version of the best-selling Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza with Toyota specific cosmetic changes.

Exterior:

    The Urban Cruiser borrows its front grille from the Fortuner but carries forward the LED headlamps from the Vitara Brezza without any changes. The front bumper however is completely redesigned to give the Urban Cruiser a unique look. The sides and rear, however, don't have any changes except for the Toyota and Urban Cruiser branding on the tailgate. The 16” alloy wheels to are the same as on the Vitara Brezza.

Interior:

    The interior of

the Urban Cruiser gets even fewer changes when compared to the Brezza. The design, layout and materials are exactly the same and the only differentiation will be Brown colour seat upholstery.

Variants:

Similar to the Vitara Brezza, the Urban Cruiser will be available in three variants; Mid, High and Premium.

    Based on the Vitara Brezza, the new Urban Cruiser MID variant offers the following standard features:
