Nissan Magnite Compact SUV - All You Need To Know

Nissan is all set to enter the sub compact SUV segment in India !

Nissan will be unveiling their new Magnite compact SUV later this year. This here is a quick walkthrough on the highlights of this new Compact SUV in town.

Exterior

The new Nissan Magnite, though being based on the Renault Triber's CMFA platform, will sport a unique and aggressive design language. The Magnite will feature a large Octagonal grille at the front of an aggressive bumper design. The new Magnite will also feature large L-shaped LED DRLs on either side of the grille. The sides will have strong muscular shoulder lines and squared-off wheel arches. The Tail lamps will receive 3D LED treatment as well. The top trim levels will receive funky looking 16” dual-tone alloy wheels whereas the entry-level variants are expected to receive 15 inch Steel rims. A dual-tone roof option is also expected to be provided at launch.

Interior:

The new Nissan Magnite interior will feature a traditional design layout with some nice design touches. The interior is expected to sport a hexagonal theme with hexagonal AC vents, the hexagonal pattern on the seats while the centre console will house a freestanding 8-inch Touchscreen system. All the variants are expected to get a dual-tone theme. Space is expected to be comparable to other compact SUVs while also providing an ample number of features.

The top trim levels will receive Auto headlamps, Auto wipers, Cruise control, Auto climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster similar to the Triber and armrests for the front and rear seats. The touchscreen system will also be available with Connected car features & telematics control unit through the Nissan connect app.

Practicality:

The Nissan Magnite is expected to offer boot space compared to other compact SUVs in its class complementing all the storage options in the cabin. All variants will get flat-folding rear seats too.

Safety:

The new Nissan Magnite will be providing dual airbags with ABS and EBD as standard across all variants. The top variants will also receive Side airbags similar to the Renault Triber along with Vehicle stability management, Electronic Stability Control, Hill hold control and smart key access system.

Powertrains:

The new Nissan Magnite will feature two petrol engine options. The entry-level variants will receive the 1.0l 3 cyl petrol engine from the Renault Triber producing 72PS power through a 5 speed Manual gearbox while the higher variants will be available with a new 1.0L 3 cyl turbo petrol engine producing 95PS power through either a 5-speed gearbox or a CVT gearbox.

Launch & price:

This Nissan Magnite will go on sale by early next year and compete against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford Ecosport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the new Kia Sonet. Prices are expected to start from around ?6L on road for the base petrol variant and go up to ?11L for the top-spec automatic variants.     The New Ford Endeavour Sport Variant gets Glossy black replacing the chrome on the outside. The Front grille, Skid plates, Bumper accents, Tailgate strip, fender badges and the 18” alloy wheels will be finished in glossy black. A unique Sport badging will be provided on the tailgate and the lower part of the rear doors.

The Sport variant is likely to be available in both 2WD & 4WD versions. International version will be available in 2.0-liter Twin-Turbo ecoblue diesel engine, It will produce 213hp of power, 500Nm of torque, 4WD with 10 speed AT.

    Launch & price:

     When launched the Endeavour Sport will compete against the Toyota Fortuner TRD Limited edition and could be priced at a slight premium over the standard Endeavour versions. (Rs 30L to Rs 34.8L ex-showroom)


    It's been almost a decade since the launch of the Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid in India. Finally, these mid size sedans are scheduled to get replaced by all-new models in 2021. However, before laughing the sedans, VW-Skoda will be launching the SUVs first.

    and powertrains, but will look unique following their brand specific signature design language. Both these sedans will be based on the made for India, MQB-A0-IN platform.

    Both the midsize sedans are expected to retain the current 110hp, 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, along with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic options. Besides this, VW-SKODA is also likely to bring a hybrid based powertrain.

    The larger 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit seen on the VW-SKODA SUVs will not be offered on the new Vento and Rapid sedans.

    VW-SKODA is pushing for 95 percent localisation and more parts sharing of new upcoming models to reduce costs.

    Toyota India is preparing to launch the facelifted Toyota Fortuner by early next year. Bookings have commenced unofficially for the new facelifted SUV at select dealerships for an advance of ?50,000.

    The majority of the upgrades will occur at the front end of the Fortuner. The new model will feature a new grille, LED headlights with LED DRLs, redesigned fog lights and a new silver skid plate. Other changes will include redesigned 18” alloy wheels and re-profiled LED taillights.

The Thai-spec Fortuner gets a new 2.8L turbo-diesel engine which produces 204 PS and 500 Nm. This engine is expected to be introduced in the Indian model as well. While all the models will be 2WD as standard, only the diesel will get a 4WD option.

    Price:

    The current BS6 Toyota Fortuner is available from ?28.66 lakh to ?36.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted model is expected to cost around ?50,000 more.
