MG Hector Facelift India

Morris Garages India has silently been developing a facelift version of their best selling Hector 5 seat Crossover SUV and now this facelift version has started to arrive at showrooms a few weeks ahead of its expected launch. Here's a quick summary on what to expect on the updated Hector.

The 2021 MG Hector gets cosmetic and feature upgrades to the exterior and interior.

Exterior updates:

MG Hector Facelift
  • New front grille with Chrome studs (similar to Mercedes Benz cars)

  • Glossy black strip connecting the tail lamps, replacing the red reflector.

  • 18” dual tone alloy wheels

Apart from these updates, the 2021 Hector will look largely the same as the current model and will carry forward the same features including LED headlamps, DRLs and tail lamps, Roof rails, Panoramic sunroof and surround body cladding.

Interior and feature updates:

  • Dual tone, beige and black interior theme

  • Ventilated front seats

  • Wireless charging

  • Proximity auto door locks

While the design layout and quality will remain exactly the same, the 2021 Hector will get a dual tone colour theme while also offering some new features to have an edge over the Seltos and Creta. It will also receive Proximity sensing auto door locks which can automatically lock or unlock the car by sensing the distance of the key fob, without the need to press the request button on the door handles.

Other features including the large portrait-style touchscreen system, 100+ voice commands, ambient mood lighting, digital instrument cluster, powered seats, leather upholstery are expected to remain the same on the top spec variants.

The Hector will continue to offer class leading 625L of boot space, while also offering smart powered tailgate.

Powertrain:

The current range of engine will be carried forward to the facelift Hector as well:

  • 1.5L turbo petrol non hybrid producing 145PS through 6 speed manual or DCT

  • 1.5L turbo petrol with 48V mild hybrid producing 145PS through 6 speed manual

  • 2.0L Fiat-sourced turbo diesel producing 170PS through a 6 speed manual.

Launch and price:

The new MG Hector facelift is expected to be launched officially before mid-January and the top spec Sharp Variant is expected to be priced around ?30,000 higher than the current Sharp trim level.

       Just as before, the new Hector will compete against the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass. Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

    Toyota India is preparing to launch the facelifted Toyota Fortuner on the 6th of January, 2021. Apart from launching the facelifted version of the existing Fortuner, Toyota is also bringing the Legender version of the SUV as well. The Legender is essentially a highly upgraded flagship Variant of the Fortuner SUV, previously launched in Thailand and Australia. Bookings have commenced unofficially for the new facelifted SUV at select dealerships for an advance of Rs 50,000.

    Toyota India has now released teasers of the new Fortuner facelift also revealing a few details as well.

    front end of the Fortuner. While the facelift of the existing model will feature a new grille, LED headlights with LED DRLs, redesigned fog lights and a new silver skid plate, the highest-spec Legender variant will feature a sharper front design with Bi-projector LED Headlamps with LED DRLs. Other changes will include redesigned 18” alloy wheels and re-profiled LED taillights. The Legender will feature unique design 18" alloy wheels.

    Interior:

    The new Fortuner launched in Thailand features an all-black interior with a new instrument cluster and a larger, 9” touchscreen infotainment system. The Fortuner Legender edition also offers a powered tailgate with the swipe-to-open function, wireless charging and a 360-degree parking camera. Similar to the facelifted Innova Crysta, the new Fortuner will also include Android auto and Apple carplay finally. 

    Powertrains:

    The first powertrain for the facelifted Fortuner will be the 2.7L petrol engine which produces 166 PS and 245 Nm through either a 6 speed manual or automatic gearbox. The highest spec Fortuner Legender will get a new 2.8L turbo diesel engine which produces 204 PS and 500 Nm. While all the models will be 2WD as standard, only the diesel will get a 4WD option.

    Price:

    The current BS6 Toyota Fortuner is available from Rs 28.66 lakh to Rs 36.88 lakh (ex-showroom).

    The price of the upgraded models will be available on the launch date, 6th January 2021.

    Toyota is all set to launch the Innova Crysta Facelift in India. The expected launch date will be on November 20, 2020. Already few dealerships started accepting a booking. The new photos have surfaced of this updated model from Indonesia. Here are some key highlights of this new model.

    Exterior

    While the overall dimensions remain exactly the same, the facelift model will feature an all-new front grille finished in glossy black with five slats while the outer portion of the grille sports chrome finishing

    which is further connected to the headlights. The front fascia resembles the Toyota Highlander SUV and Hilux pick up truck to a certain extent.

    The bumper has also been made to resemble an SUV and looks beefier with a faux skid plate. The fog lamps are located lower down in the bumper on the lower variants whereas the higher variants get LED DRLs integrated with the fog lamps on the regular location. There are no major changes on the sides except for the new dual-tone Alloy wheels. The rear too looks exactly the same except for minor changes in the tail lamps.

    Interior

    The interior of the new Crysta offers a new larger infotainment system which is expected to feature Android Auto and Apple car play. The Indian version is expected to receive a different faux wood treatment as well. Apart from these changes, the overall layout and comfort will remain the same.

    Powertrain

    Mechanically, no changes are expected and the updated model is expected to get the same engine options as before. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox generates a maximum power of 150PS and maximum torque of 343NM. The 6-speed automatic-equipped diesel variants, however, generate a slightly higher torque figure of 360NM. The 2.7-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine on the other hand produces a maximum power of 167PS and Max torque of 245NM through either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Automatic transmission.

    Launch and pricing

    This new facelifted Innova Crysta expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing models, the price could increase by Rs60000 to Rs100000. At present, the base petrol variant is available in India with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs.15.66 lakhs while the top-spec diesel variant is priced at Rs.23.63 lakhs.
