5-seater Volkswagen Tiguan to return !

5-seater Volkswagen Tiguan to return !

by admin | August 01, 2020

Volkswagen had announced the end of its popular compact SUV- the Tiguan as its 2.0 litre TDI engine did not meet BS6 emission norms. However, Volkswagen says that it plans to launch the petrol- only model in india this year. The launch date isn’t specified since the Corona Virus pandemic could delay things.

The new Tiguan would be a Facelift version of the earlier model and will be manufactured locally to avoid import duties, so as to make it more affordable. A facelift would mean that the front and rear profiles of the car would receive cosmetic updates. The most significant difference compared to the old version of the Tiguan would be the engine.

The new 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan is all set to receive the 1.5 Litre TSI Turbo- Petrol engine that produces an impressive 150 BHP of power. Also adding to the fun would be the 7 speed Dual Clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. Additions to the existing safety package could be a hill descent control feature and also an electronic parking brake.

The interior could mostly remain the same except that the infotainment system would have a larger screen, a digital instrument cluster and tech that helps one stay connected with their car. Volkswagen may launch another variant of the Tiguan with a 48V hybrid system to increase fuel efficiency but this could happen at a much later stage.

To be assembled in Pune, the new Tiguan would be a front-wheeled drive car in order to price it as competitively as possible. Prices could hover between 22 Lakh and 26 Lakh    rupees. With the Tiguan’s high popularity globally, a safe car reputation, attractive pricing and an exciting petrol engine, this SUV could surely attract a lot of attention!

In terms of looks, the Facelifted model receieves many visual updates. The front looks a bit more aggressive and more modern. LED headlamps, new bumper design and grille give it the much needed change from the boring avatar it had. The rear has remained mostly unchanged apart from the LED tail lamps and a rear skid plate integrated quite well into the rear bumper.

The interior of the new Facelifted Nissan Kicks is quite different from the existing India-spec model. The central AC vents are positioned above the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system while it also has a semi-digital instrument cluster with

Nissan had previously stated it will study the feasibility of the e-Power tech in India, but so far no announcement has been made regarding its introduction. The Thai-spec Nissan Kicks e-Power starts at a price od from Rs 21 lakh (converted 889,000 baht), which is quite a lot of money for a car that size.

Coming to the looks-The most noticeable change is at the front. The new re-designed bumper gets a new grill that integrates the central air vent. The side and rear profile of the Swift Dzire 2020 remain unchanged. The car’s exterior dimensions and boot space too remain the same. In terms of Interior changes- the only evident change was a lighter tone of the wooden look-alike elements.

Other features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, LED headlamps and Auto AC with rear AC vents. The2020 Dzire gets a new 4.2-inch coloured MID from the Suzuki Baleno and a new 7-inch touch

screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Dzire also gets auto folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) and cruise control. The AGS variants (automatic transmission) from the previous models missed a most crucial safety feature like Hill Hold Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). These however have been updated in the new model.

Speaking of the most interesting part of the update-the 2020 Swift Dzire comes with a new engine. Instead of the earlier 1.2-litre unit (83PS/113Nm), it borrows Suzuki Baleno’s new 1.2-litre DualJet engine that produces 90PS and 113Nm mated to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AGS. The new engine also gets idle auto start/stop (switches off the engine whenever the car is idle), making it a more economical car than it already was. The mileage of the updated Dzire also seems to have improved as claimed. The old model with manual transmission returned a mileage of 21.21 kmpl whereas the new model is expected to deliver 23.26 kmpl. Similarly in the case of the AGS variant, the old model returned 21.2 kmpl whereas the new model is expected to deliver 24.12 kmpl.

What comes with the updates of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire 2020 is a hike in prices of the car. Prices for the base LXI variant have been increased by Rs. 5000 and it now costs Rs. 5.83 Lakhs (ex- showroom Delhi) whereas the prices of ZXI and ZXI+ variants have been increased by Rs. 16000 and Rs.6000 respectively. The price hike is also applicable to its AGS variants. Details of the new prices are mentioned below.

    Price:

    LXI

    Rs 5.83 lakh

    Rs 5.89 lakh (+Rs 5,000)

    ZXI+

    ZXI+ AGS

    Rs 8.69 lakh

Suzuki has filled in the blanks for the Swift Dzire by loading it with much needed features. But would the hike in price make you think twice before choosing this car? Do let us know
