Jeep Compass Facelift 2021

The first images of the 2021 premium compact SUV Jeep Compass facelift have been leaked online. The leaked images of the new model are from China. The facelifted model is expected to make its world premiere later this month in that country.

Exterior:

At first glance, the headlamps get minor design tweaks, with a slightly more angular treatment. The headlamp inserts too are new and the Headlamps themselves are expected to be full-LED units on most variants.

The seven-slat grille design gets more prominent honeycomb-like inserts. The front bumper is all new with a curvy contrast-black insert placed above the front air-dam connecting both fog lamp units. The new bumper does not feature separate LED daytime running lamps, which means they will now be integrated into the headlight units.

The new Compass Trailhawk will also come with a unique front bumper design along with an all-black grille, dual-tone hood and the trademark red hooks upfront. The refreshed Compass Trailhawk also gets new-look 18” alloy wheels.

At the rear though, the changes are minimum with the mildly re-profiled tail-lamps and the new inserts.

Interior:

The new Jeep Compass facelift is expected to recieve a much-larger 10.1-inch touchscreen U-Connect5 infotainment system with few connected car facilities as well. It is also likely that the top spec variants will receive a fully digital instrument cluster as well. While the rest of the dashboard will have no design changes, the material quality is expected to be improved significantly.

Engines:

The new Jeep Compass will continue with the current set of engine and gearbox options. The 1.4L Multi Air Petrol engine will be mated to either a 6 speed manual or a 7 speed DCT whereas the 2.0L turbo diesel will be mated to either a 6 speed manual or a 9 speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Stay tuned for further updates on the new Jeep Compass facelift.

Ford has introduced a new extended warranty scheme of upto 6 years or 1.5L kms in total for all Ford car owners in order to build a solid reputation among consumers. This scheme can be opted by owners of almost all Ford cars be it BS4 or BS6. However, cost and benefits differ from model to model. Ford India is also offering this scheme on its only CBU product muscle car, the Mustang in its BS4 guise. The Ford Endeavour facelift receives multiple offers covering a wide range. However, the offers are on the expensive side for the premium full-size

SUV due to its heavy cost and expensive servicing and spare parts. The package is more affordable for the Figo, Aspire, Freestyle and other small/ midsize cars including the Fiesta and Classic sedans.

Ford India has also introduced a unique warranty package called Any Time Warranty. Through this, customers can avail all benefits of an extended warranty even after lapse of Factory/Extended warranty. The package covers additional 20,000kms or 1 year, whichever is earlier over the standard warranty package. Vehicles that have completed the factory extended warranty and have an odometer reading less than 1,20,000 Kms are eligible to avail this scheme within 72 months from date of purchase of their car. This extended warranty is transferable to the resold owner as well. Prices may vary depending on the car, years and mileage.

Ford is currently developing an MPV for the Indian market jointly with Mahindra. Some new details have emerged online.

The new Marazzo-based Ford MPV  is likely to be equipped with the same 2.2-litre Mhawk diesel engine, instead of a 1.5-litre unit. This new mid-size MPV will rival the Toyota Innova Crysta. it is also likely that this MPV will feature a 6 speed manual along with the 6-speed torque converter gearbox seen on the XUV500 and the Thar. A new 1.5L M-stallion turbo petrol engine is also expected.

The new Ford MPV will have a completely different body design, with typical Ford

design language and Ford's DNA. It will also have a different interior, which will look similar to Ford’s other vehicles sold globally and will also feature 7/8 seating options. The new MPV will also feature Ford exclusive technology along with Ford’s Sync infotainment system, just like its other models.

Additionally, Ford and Mahindra are also currently working on a new B-segment SUV that is expected to be launched later next year.

All these upcoming new Ford models will be designed by Mahindra-owned Pininfarina.

On further news, the current-gen Ford EcoSport is also likely to get Mahindra’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

The Kia Carnival premium MPV was launched earlier this year as Kia’s flagship model in India. However, now Kia motors India is developing a new mid size MPV to be positioned below the Toyota Innova Crysta.

This new mid-size family MPV will be based on the Kia Seltos’ platform with better crash protection and extended dimensions. This new MPV will be positioned between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (4,395mm in length) and Toyota Innova Crysta (4,735mm in length), and will directly rival the Mahindra Marazzo (4,585mm in length) in terms of dimensions and positioning. This new MPV is likely to have both

    7 and 8 seat options.

    Exterior:

Exterior design is likely to include the front fascia similar to the Seltos, featuring sharp LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. The signature” Tiger-nose grille will also feature the knurled Chrome finish. The proportions are expected to be spot on for this new MPV and is also expected to feature split LED tail lamps. 16 or 17 inch alloy wheels are expected too.

    Interior:

The interior of this new MPV will also carry forward a lot of design elements and materials from the Seltos and the Carnival. Similar to the Seltos and the Sonet, a large touchscreen is expected to be the mounted on the dash top, while being connected to a colour instrument cluster.

    Features:

In terms of features, the new Kia MPV will be fully-loaded with equipment from the Kia Sonet and Seltos as well. Here are the expected features:

    • Leather wrap steering

    • TFT colour instrument cluster

    • Cruise control

    • Auto headlamps

    • 10.25” Touchscreen

    • UVO connected car tech

    • Auto climate control

    • Rear AC vents

    • Leather upholstery

    • Smart key access

    • Easy fold rear seats

    • Electric sunroof

    • Rear seat Sun blinds

    • Powered tailgate

    • Wireless charger

    • 360 degree camera

    Engines:

Similar to the Seltos, the new MPV is expected to get a 1.5L petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine. Both engines are likely to produce an identical 115PS of Max Power. While the petrol engine is likely to get a CVT option, the diesel range is also expected to offer a torque converter automatic transmission apart from the standard 6 speed manual.

    Safety:

Since the Kia Seltos scored a rather disappointing 3 stars at the Global NCAP crash tests, the new MPV is likely to feature better strengthening and crash protection. Apart from standard safety features such as dual airbags and ABS, the new MPV is expected to include the following:

    • 6 airbags on top Variants

    •  ESP

    • Traction control

    • Hill hold control

    • All wheel disc brakes

    • Smart key access

    • UVO connect assist

    • 360 degree camera

    Launch and pricing:

Since the Maruti Ertiga is available only with a petrol engine for now, and the Mahindra Marazzo gets only a 1.5-litre diesel engine, this might be a good opportunity to cash in on the MPV segment by offering both options with great features at competitive prices.

This new MPV is expected to be launched later in 2021 and will compete against all 7 seat MPVs including the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the XL6, the Mahindra Marazzo and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The higher Variants may also compete with the new MG Hector plus.

    Stay tuned for further updates.
