Morris Garages India have unveiled their new flagship full size Gloster SUV in India. Bookings are now open for the feature loaded full size SUV, with the booking advance of Rs.1L. MG’s full-size SUV will be available with either a six- or seven-seat layout and will offer 4WD as an option. The MG Gloster is a rebadged version of China's Maxus D90 which is also sold as the LDV D90 in Australia.

Variants and features:

The Gloster will be available in four trim levels – Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. The MG Gloster Savvy and Smart variants will be available with a

6-seat configuration only; with captain seats in the middle row, while the MG Gloster Super will feature a 7-seat layout. The MG Gloster Sharp can be optioned with either seating arrangement.

Powertrain:

The Gloster will be available with a two 2.0-litre diesel engine options. The first choice is a single turbocharger engine and develops 163hp and 375Nm, while the second is a twin turbo unit developing a  superior 218hp and 480Nm. An 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard on both engines. The twin turbo engine will be available with Borg Warner's shift-on-the fly four-wheel drive with selectable drive modes including Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, Auto, Eco and Sport modes. The single turbo diesel is two-wheel drive only.

Safety features:

The Gloster has been awarded 5 Star rating at the Australian NCAP crash tests and includes a long list of standard safety features:

Pricing and launch:

The new MG Gloster is expected to be positioned above all the other full-size, 7-seat ladder-frame SUVs including the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas G4. Prices will be revealed on the festive month of October and the expected pricing is around Rs.45 to Rs.50L on road. Stay tuned on further details on this new tech savvy full size SUV.

Nissan will be unveiling their new Magnite compact SUV later this year. This here is a quick walkthrough on the highlights of this new Compact SUV in town.

Exterior: 

The new Nissan Magnite, though being based on the Renault Triber's CMFA platform, will sport a unique and aggressive design language. The Magnite will feature a large Octagonal grille at the front of an aggressive bumper design. The new Magnite will also feature large L-shaped LED DRLs on either side of the grille. The sides will have strong muscular shoulder lines and squared-off wheel arches. The Tail lamps will receive 3D LED treatment

as well. The top trim levels will receive funky looking 16” dual-tone alloy wheels whereas the entry-level variants are expected to receive 15 inch Steel rims. A dual-tone roof option is also expected to be provided at launch.

Interior:

The new Nissan Magnite interior will feature a traditional design layout with some nice design touches. The interior is expected to sport a hexagonal theme with hexagonal AC vents, the hexagonal pattern on the seats while the centre console will house a freestanding 8-inch Touchscreen system. All the variants are expected to get a dual-tone theme. Space is expected to be comparable to other compact SUVs while also providing an ample number of features.

The top trim levels will receive Auto headlamps, Auto wipers, Cruise control, Auto climate control, a semi-digital instrument cluster similar to the Triber and armrests for the front and rear seats. The touchscreen system will also be available with Connected car features & telematics control unit through the Nissan connect app.

Practicality:

The Nissan Magnite is expected to offer boot space compared to other compact SUVs in its class complementing all the storage options in the cabin. All variants will get flat-folding rear seats too.

Safety:

The new Nissan Magnite will be providing dual airbags with ABS and EBD as standard across all variants. The top variants will also receive Side airbags similar to the Renault Triber along with Vehicle stability management, Electronic Stability Control, Hill hold control and smart key access system.

Powertrains:

The new Nissan Magnite will feature two petrol engine options. The entry-level variants will receive the 1.0l 3 cyl petrol engine from the Renault Triber producing 72PS power through a 5 speed Manual gearbox while the higher variants will be available with a new 1.0L 3 cyl turbo petrol engine producing 95PS power through either a 5-speed gearbox or a CVT gearbox.

Launch & price:

This Nissan Magnite will go on sale by early next year and compete against the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford Ecosport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the new Kia Sonet. Prices are expected to start from around ?6L on road for the base petrol variant and go up to ?11L for the top-spec automatic variants. Coming to the looks-The most noticeable change is at the front. The new re-designed bumper gets a new grill that integrates the central air vent. The side and rear profile of the Swift Dzire 2020 remain unchanged. The car’s exterior dimensions and boot space too remain the same. In terms of Interior changes- the only evident change was a lighter tone of the wooden look-alike elements.

Other features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, LED headlamps and Auto AC with rear AC vents. The2020 Dzire gets a new 4.2-inch coloured MID from the Suzuki Baleno and a new 7-inch touch

screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The new Dzire also gets auto folding ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) and cruise control. The AGS variants (automatic transmission) from the previous models missed a most crucial safety feature like Hill Hold Control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). These however have been updated in the new model.

Speaking of the most interesting part of the update-the 2020 Swift Dzire comes with a new engine. Instead of the earlier 1.2-litre unit (83PS/113Nm), it borrows Suzuki Baleno’s new 1.2-litre DualJet engine that produces 90PS and 113Nm mated to either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AGS. The new engine also gets idle auto start/stop (switches off the engine whenever the car is idle), making it a more economical car than it already was. The mileage of the updated Dzire also seems to have improved as claimed. The old model with manual transmission returned a mileage of 21.21 kmpl whereas the new model is expected to deliver 23.26 kmpl. Similarly in the case of the AGS variant, the old model returned 21.2 kmpl whereas the new model is expected to deliver 24.12 kmpl.

What comes with the updates of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire 2020 is a hike in prices of the car. Prices for the base LXI variant have been increased by Rs. 5000 and it now costs Rs. 5.83 Lakhs (ex- showroom Delhi) whereas the prices of ZXI and ZXI+ variants have been increased by Rs. 16000 and Rs.6000 respectively. The price hike is also applicable to its AGS variants. Details of the new prices are mentioned below.
