2021 All-New Hyundai i20 Bookings Open Unofficially!

Hyundai India will be launching the new i20 premium hatchback by the end of this year. The i20 has been one among their best selling products and still is one among the most feature loaded hatchbacks in its category. This here is a quick walkthrough on the highlights of the new generation Hyundai i20.

Exterior:

The new Hyundai i20, sports a completely different design language. On the front fascia, it features a new and larger hexagonal cascading grille with a more swooping bonnet and angular headlamps. The headlamps will feature LED lighting on the top spec trims along with inverted L shaped DRLs. Projector fog lamps are also expected to be offered. The new i20 will be longer and wider than the current model. The sides have sharp, dynamic creases lending the car a more dynamic profile. The window line features Chrome detailing which flows from the A pillar to the top of the C pillar whereas the snazzy Z-shaped LED Tail lamps are connected by a red reflector bar. The new i20 will also receive unique looking 16” alloy wheels on the top spec variants.

Interior:

The new Hyundai i20's interior will feature a fresh and clean layout with a wraparound layered design. The interior is expected to sport a flowing cockpit theme while being loaded with features.

Powertrains:

The new i20 is expected to be available with two petrol engine options and one diesel engine. The standard 1.2L 4 cyl Kappa petrol engine will produce 83PS Power through either a 5 Speed manual transmission or a CVT. The 1.0L 3 cyl turbo petrol powertrain is expected to be carried over from the Aura Turbo producing a maximum output of 100PS through either a 6 speed manual gearbox, or the new IMT or a 7 speed DCT. The 1.5L turbo diesel engine from the Venue is also expected to be on offer producing 100PS Power through a 6 speed manual transmission.

Launch & price:

The all-new i20 is likely to be launched during the festive month of October this year and will go up against the new Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the new facelifted Honda Jazz and Toyota’s Glanza. Prices are expected to be around Rs20000 to Rs50000 higher than the current gen model which it will replace.

Renault Triber AMT

Three variants of the Triber AMT are on offer- RXL, RXT, and RXZ. Overall, the AMT variants are dearer by Rs. 40,000 compared to the manual transmission option. Five colour options are available on this car- Metal Mustard, Moonlight Silver, Fiery Red, Ice Cool White and Electric Blue.

The Renault Triber has been known for its value for money factor as it comes with the convenience of third row optional seats, a large boot space, front and side airbag, decent enough ground clearance at a price that is hard to resist. With so much on offer, the Triber AMT would seem

more tempting to families that want flexibility in a car in terms of space, comfort and of course- a sense of safety.

The Triber however feels inadequate in terms of power figures. You get a 3 cylinder 999cc engine that produces 72 BHP. The torque figures don’t even cross the three digit mark so it would be interesting to see if the new 5- speed AMT transmission does any good to make the Triber feel like it goes faster. Though the car’s kerb weight is only 947 kg, it won’t make much of a difference when it comes to power to weight figures. We did expect the Triber AMT to come with a turbo charged engine or a bigger naturally aspirated 1.2L engine that would do justice to its size and carrying capacity.

In terms of looks too, the Triber keeps up with the trend, not just like an elongated Kwid. It isn’t that. With attractive alloy wheels, stylish design, LED DRLs that people love and Projector headlamps. The Triber does seem like it would tick the boxes for the masses. Not only masses, in fact it could also appeal to the young, travel loving crowd who intend to have a practical car with a lot of space inside the cabin.

With many manufacturers eyeing this segment, we’re happy to be seeing such a car in the market that is smart, affordable, practical and convenient as it takes the bar for proper competition- a notch higher.

Tata Harrier XT+ Variant Launched with Panaromic Sunroof, priced at 16.99 lakh

Based on the XT variant, this new XT+ variant offers a massive Panoramic Electric sunroof in addition to the standard features. This panoramic sunroof is claimed to be best in class with anti pinch, global closure and rain sense closure features similar to that of the top spec XZ+ variant.

Other than this feature, the XT+ will carry forward the same specifications as on the XT variant. Standard features will include:

Powertrain:

The New Harrier XT+ variant, just like all variants of the Harrier will be available with a diesel engine mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The 6 speed automatic gearbox will be available only with the XMA, XZA & the XZA+ variants. The 2L Kryotec turbo diesel produces 170PS Power and 350NM torque. From the XM variant onwards, the Harrier is available with three drive modes; Eco, City and Sport.

Launch & price:

The new Harrier XT+ variant is priced at RS 16.99L ex-showroom. Priced at around RS 50,000 more than the standard XT variant, this new variant could effectively compete against the similarly priced and equipped Hyundai Creta while offering better value for money and attracting buyers preferring a panoramic sunroof.

Most affordable variant of All-new Hyundai i20 will be Launched in India soon!

The new 3rd generation Hyundai i20 premium hatchback was launched recently and it is significantly better than its predecessor in almost every area. Currently it is available with 3 engine options, 4 variants and 5 transmission options. At present the Magna is considered the entry level variant and is priced at Rs.6.79L (Ex-showroom) and hence it is not the most affordable car in its segment. However, Hyundai will soon launch a new base level, Era variant of the new i20.

The upcoming base-spec Era model will get only 2 engine options, namely the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine which produces 83 PS

of power through a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 1.5l CRDi turbo diesel engine which produces 100PS of power through a 6 speed manual gearbox.

The new Era variant will weigh around 80 kilograms lighter than the Magna 1.2-litre petrol variant.
