Jeep has updated its Compass model in India by giving it BS-6 compliant engines, including an automatic gearbox option but in terms of looks, much remains the same. Prices of the updated Compass start at 16.49 Lakh Rupees. The 1.4 Litre Turbo Petrol Engine with 163 HP and a 2.0 Litre Turbo diesel with 173 HP powers this popular SUV.

News is that the Jeep Compass will soon receive updates in the guise of a facelift variant that will have updated headlights, updated front grille and bumpers. Changes to the interiors are also on the cards including an all new Infotainment

System called the UConnect 5. Apart from having Android Auto and Apple Car Play, this connected Infotainment System also features Amazon Alexa and can receive updates over the air. In terms of size, the screen size goes up to a massive 12.3 inches which would be one of the highest in class if introduced in India. It has become a rather popular trend in SUVs that sport large Infotainment screens.

The refreshed look could appeal to buyers in the premium SUV segment. The facelifted Jeep Compass would compete with MG Hector, Hyundai Creta 2020 Kia Seltos, Skoda Karoq and the Volkswagen T-Roc.

We also hear that there is also a seven- seater Compass based SUV in the pipeline which is expected to compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Isuzu MU-X but will most likely be introduced early next year.

Toyota is all set to launch the Innova Crysta Facelift in India. The expected launch date will be on November 20, 2020. Already few dealerships started accepting a booking. The new photos have surfaced of this updated model from Indonesia. Here are some key highlights of this new model.

Exterior

While the overall dimensions remain exactly the same, the facelift model will feature an all-new front grille finished in glossy black with five slats while the outer portion of the grille sports chrome finishing

which is further connected to the headlights. The front fascia resembles the Toyota Highlander SUV and Hilux pick up truck to a certain extent.

The bumper has also been made to resemble an SUV and looks beefier with a faux skid plate. The fog lamps are located lower down in the bumper on the lower variants whereas the higher variants get LED DRLs integrated with the fog lamps on the regular location. There are no major changes on the sides except for the new dual-tone Alloy wheels. The rear too looks exactly the same except for minor changes in the tail lamps.

Interior

The interior of the new Crysta offers a new larger infotainment system which is expected to feature Android Auto and Apple car play. The Indian version is expected to receive a different faux wood treatment as well. Apart from these changes, the overall layout and comfort will remain the same.

Powertrain

Mechanically, no changes are expected and the updated model is expected to get the same engine options as before. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox generates a maximum power of 150PS and maximum torque of 343NM. The 6-speed automatic-equipped diesel variants, however, generate a slightly higher torque figure of 360NM. The 2.7-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine on the other hand produces a maximum power of 167PS and Max torque of 245NM through either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Automatic transmission.

Launch and pricing

This new facelifted Innova Crysta expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing models, the price could increase by Rs60000 to Rs100000. At present, the base petrol variant is available in India with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs.15.66 lakhs while the top-spec diesel variant is priced at Rs.23.63 lakhs. While the Jazz has been popular for being a spacious hatchback, some new updates ensure it stays updated with technology. Of course, a petrol and diesel BS6 engine is also something it receives but it just doesn’t stop there.

From what is expected, the new 2020 Jazz receives updates on the exterior. A fresh look at the front and rear is something which is most likely while the overall profile remains similar. The version displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo displays updates like LED DRL’s, Projector headlamps, new dual tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamps.

also displays many changes to the interior. A new Dashboard, a two spoke steering wheel, new touch screen infotainment system, white highlights and an all new centre console, magic rear seats, cruise control, auto headlamps and auto wipers. We aren’t sure if all the updates would land in India but we do expect the Indian version of the 2020 Jazz to come with some updates, if not all.

The debuted version also comes with many safety features such as an electric parking brake, ABS, EBD, SENSING technology which is Honda’s collision mitigation braking using a wide angle camera in the front and eight sonar sensors.

Engine options for the India bound Honda Jazz 2020 could remain the same- the 1.2 Litre i-VTEC that produces 90 PS of power, 110 NM of torque and the 1.5 Litre i-DTEC engine that produces 100 PS, 200 NN of torque would most probably be upgraded to meet BS6 emission norms. The petrol option currently comes with a 5 speed manual and CVT transmission while the diesel option comes mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox only. However, the new Jazz Diesel could receive CVT transmission from the Diesel Honda Amaze.

When launched officially in India, the 2020 Honda Jazz will compete with Toyota Glanza, Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz. While it would feel more premium than the outgoing model, prices are expected to stay between Rs. 5.50 Lakhs and Rs. 9.50 Lakhs (ex- showroom).
